Pseudo Pin-up

 outfit: vintage reproduction 50s Shaheen sarong dress

One swell thing about growing older is that you start to learn what works for your body shape and what to avoid like crazy. While I love how the 50s silhouette of a nipped waist flatters the female form, the full skirt look tends to look funny on me so I veer away from them generally. The other great 50s look however, however, is an entirely different story! The bombshell wiggle dresses create curves where there were previously none and just have that magic of making you feel pin-up worthy.

Sometimes all your less-than-toned-post-baby body needs to feel good about itself is a simple well-tailored outfit! Hubba hubba!

* Classical beauties *

* Vintage glamour for the art deco lover *
If you're new to my little vintage-inspired world, please feel free to write to me at funkypink05(at)yahoo.com.sg for enquiries or purchase. Or you can simply say hello! I currently accept customizations on a case-by-case basis subject to time, material and inspiration constraints.

A MASSIVE loot bag of vintage goodies from the US arrived last weekend (thanks to my private courier Y!) while another large package of new shiny gemstones is en route to the little workshop, can you sense the excitement in my voice already? I hope you are ready for AW 2011 Part Trois!

Rousseau - SGD 105 - Sold

Unassumingly charming in pretty jewel tones is Rousseau with a vintage filigree angel wing-like component adorned with a lovely rose pink crystal and a vintage working heart locket set with a single fuchsia rhinestone.
A carved black rose and tendrils of deep red garnets, gleaming oyster blue-grey pearls and delectable rubies. A subtle rose quartz cube and pale green amethyst marquise briolette add an unexpected quirky touch to the 14k gold-filled chain. Necklace measures approx. 22" in length. An elegant yet delightful locket piece!

Lillian Rose - SGD 65 - Sold

Inspired by my 1920s art deco rose motif necklace collection, I was thrilled to find this realistic vintage-repro rose charm (which looked like the genuine one in an antique necklace of mine!) since it is not always that one stumbles upon similar looking parts almost a century later. This piece is modeled on the popular classic style of the day.
To further authenticate the period flavour, I used cotton candy pink japanese glass beads similar in colour and make to the kind of czech glass beads which would have been used in those days. Filigrees were de rigeur so they make their appearance here as well. Enjoy this blast from the past!

Magic Forest - SGD 69 - Reserved

Channel your inner Enid Blyton with this fairytale forest-inspired critter charm necklace. A coral rose cabochon, reindeer resin charm, 3D poofy star, orange enamel toadstool, petite blush pink enamel flower and a cute little bambi deer on a 14k gold-filled chain with moonstones, lemon quartz and freshwater pearls. Simply adorable! Only piece.

Heart Bunting - SGD 45

Go retro with this heart bunting garland necklace! I rediscovered these adorable heart shaped floral enamel charms in my vintage stash and thought they looked wonderful simply strung together on a delicate 14k gold-filled slim rope chain. Necklace measures approx. 17" in length. Only piece.

Fruit Salad - SGD 45 - Sold

More Petite Fleurs! Citrusy peach fleurs with lovely caribbean blue apatite, citrine, clear quartz, teeny pink freshwater pearls and smooth soft green phrenite heart briolettes. Earrings measure approx. 4cm from 14k gold-filled hooks. Summery pretty!

Baby Breath - SGD 36 - Sold

The sweetest little things with baby blue fleurs, shimmery freshwater pearls, rosy peach rhodochrosite rondelles and soft pink rose quartz briolettes. Drop length is a petite under 2cm. Trop Belle!

Matisse - SGD 140 - Sold

I was so pleased with the versatile Papillon necklace I decided to do another variation of it in gold tone.  Like its predecessor, the chain portion is detachable and can be used as a simple chain for your own pendant while you get another bracelet! For a better idea of how it looks worn as a bracelet, please refer to the original Papillon listing (which has sold).
Vintage metal and enamel flowers in neutral nude tones along with gemstones that include london blue topaz, mystic topaz and a single large blue sapphire briolette. Not forgetting the string of emerald cut teal green mystic topaz baguette stones! Fancy fine, non?

Deneuve - SGD 138 - Sold

:: worn with locket ::
:: worn without locket ::
Dramatic and soft both at once, Deneuve is a breath of fresh air with a beautifully preserved turquoise-accented vintage silver tone leaf brooch, blue lace agate carved rose,  gemstones of green amethyst, moonstone, mystic topaz and blue sapphire as well as excellent grade blush pink freshwater pearls. A little surprise comes in the form of a sterling book style locket with a detachable cz-encrusted bail so it can be removed and worn alone on the (surprise again!) sterling chain that is also detachable from the main necklace itself.

A full necklace, a locket necklace and a bracelet - 3 piece in 1 - what more can one ask for in a single trinket? :)
